The weather is getting warmer, and in the world of agriculture, this means farmers market season. Put simply, a farmers market is a little marketplace in which farmers directly sell their goods to consumers. According to Saul, Farmers markets not only help boost local food economies, but they also provide cost effective retail, making farming much more efficient and profitable. As a place where community members gather to take home groceries, social interaction can also be increased and result in some community bonding. Farmers markets help preserve local lands/businesses, provide access to nutritious foods, promote healthier communities, and promote sustainable practices (Farmers Markets: There's more to market!). Next time you find yourself in need of some healthy groceries, consider visiting a local farmers market, and see below for some detailed infographics (farmersmarketcoalition.org and The Rise of Farmers’ Market in America)
